New book read..

From the back of the book: “In a bleak, landlocked keep on the English moors, Iolanthe MacLeod dreams of the sea—and of a darkly handsome man to come rescue her. Centuries have passed, and she feels she has waited in vain. Until now. Thomas McKinnon is used to attaining impossible heights, both in business and in the mountains he loves. But when the chance to restore a twelfth-century castle comes his way, he gamely takes hammer in hand and crosses the Atlantic, expecting to find nothing more interesting inside his new home than cobwebs and weeds. But in that ancient, crumbling castle, the fierce, restless spirit of a medieval Scottish woman lives on– a woman so haunting that he would do anything, go anywhere, risk everything to make her his forever…….”

who wouldn’t want to read this book?

So… for the next few days, I will be vacationing in a bleak, landlocked keep on the English moors….. and running some….

Goodnight, Beautiful

This has been such a restful weekend. New on my reading list is the book, Goodnight, Beautiful.

This book was a good read. I liked how the story line of Mal and Nova was developed. The story was told in two voices- Nova’s and Stephanie’s. Nova and Stephanie are as different as night and day. Nova being good, whereas Stephanie is not so good. The link between the two women is Mal; Nova’s best-friend, Stephanie’s husband. Because Nova is so good, and Stephanie is so bad, Stephanie sets out to separate Nova and Mal.

This is a heart-breaking story that does not have a happily ever after ending. It addresses some mental illness- such as bipolar disorder/ manic depressive. With bipolar there is also co-dependentancy. By the end of the book, I was longing to see Nova come out on top. This book was not a waste of time.

Fitness: I have yet to plan next week’s rotation. I’m thinking that I need to run a little more. So my goal is to get at least 10 miles in this week. Along with the running, I will do at least 2 days of strength work. Lately, I have not been as consistent as I need to be. But a simple change of mind is all I need to get back on track.

Sewing: My sis and I are in the process of designing workout clothes. From our rough design (very rough), we will attempt to sew something up. At the least, it should be a fun project.

Thrift Store Finds

The top look is a tight fitting- no shoulder blouse. You can’t see the bottom but it’s knee- length..

I don’t normally wear mustard colored clothes, but this blouse was hard to pass up. I hope to pair it with the black pants that I also picked up during this trip.

Thrift Store finds for the day!!

Well… The last few weeks have been really good fitness wise. Morning Cardio and upper body weights have been my rotation for the last month and I am seeing some results. I just have to keep it up now that I’m home.A girlfriend took the picture above for me and I’m finally adding it to the blog. It is so beautiful.

Hubby and I spent about 10 days in Germany. I hadn’t been back there for 20 years. It was good to visit, but was better to get back to the States.

So fitness wise, I will continue to run in the a.m. and do upper body weights. Now I just have to figure how to get my stomach to go down- I’m sure that I have abs somewhere there!!!! It’s been a long time since I’ve seen them!

Keep running,
