Walking in Our Calling: How to Be Fruitful and fulfill my calling
2 Peter 1:2-11
May God give you more and more grace and peace as you grow in your knowledge of God and Jesus our Lord. By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence. And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires. In view of all this, make every effort to respond to God’s promises. Supplement your faith with a generous provision of moral excellence, and moral excellence with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with patient endurance, and patient endurance with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love for everyone……
So, dear brothers and sisters, work hard to prove that you really are among those God has called and chosen. Do these things and you will never fall away.
Just like an athlete supplements his/her nutrition to help increase muscle mass and added energy for aerobic sessions, Christians need to supplement our faith. When we supplement of Faith, we get stronger as Christians and we are able to rise above this world’s corruption.
- Brotherly kindness
We must be persistent by taking control of our mind and our bodies by our spirit.
This sermon spoke boat loads to me this week. Because a lot of times, I do let my passions rule my life. When I’m in my fitness mode…. Fitness rules my life. When I’m in a bookworm —I let books rule my life. I need to work on living by the spirit so that I am not controlled by my flesh.
It’s just like with fitness. I have to be persistent with my SkyFitPlan in order to see results. It may be hard, but I have to train my body and my mind to keep at it!!! And I must change the program that I am doing if I’m not seeing any results- but be persistent by finding a program that works. And really… any program works if you keep up with it.
It’s really been a blessing finding this church. The pastor speaks to my heart each and every week that I attend.
